The epoch and the human project are culminating now in each one of us and in the world at large. From here onward, the world as we know it will become increasingly unrecognizable as one epoch draws to a close and another begins to emerge.

In this conversation, Aviv Shahar and Jeff Vander Clute explore the decoding of the epoch through five stories and three modes of awareness: exoteric, mesoteric, and esoteric.

What, you may ask, is an epoch? Aviv explains: “It is an evolutionary program set in motion to guide humanity and the planet through distinct stages of permitted development. It is not simply a long period of time. It is a process whereby the conscious, non-robotic aspects of the universe interface with the unconscious, robotic cycles enabling humanity to evolve its creative, spiritual and energetic capacities within the permissions granted.”

Aviv outlines an approach to tracing the epoch that was seeded in him more than thirty-six years ago on the island of Rhodes. This approach seeks to decode the epoch in a way that liberates its relevance into the present, rather than becoming confined by the limitations of historical interpretation. Aviv proposes that the current epoch began in ancient Egypt and continues to this day as part of a vast initiatory process through which humanity has been guided toward the emergence of Homo Universalis capacities.

Moving beyond a purely academic lens, this epochal trace work explores how the evolutionary program has shaped the rise of the modern world. Individuals, movements, and historical events are viewed as propagating agencies of evolutionary permissions, carrying both creative and regressive consequences depending on humanity’s choices, level of consciousness, and quality of participation.

In contemplating what comes next, Aviv turns to the significance of the current Violet transition. What role does conscious participation play in the evolutionary process? What might explain the growing instinct, emerging across the globe, to engage with deeper questions about human development and the future of civilization? Could this impulse be pointing toward a new phase in which evolution increasingly requires our conscious participation in its unfolding?
