Portals Practices are a wide array of activities and processes that can enhance well-being, inner balance and harmony. Practices help us integrate our inner lives and awareness and connect to our natural creative potential. We’re also tuning our lives to the greater intelligence, strength and support that is always available to us.
The Study of Patience guides us through a potent meditative discovery. It integrates the mental, somatic, and imaginal worlds, helping us absorb, sense, and feel where patience may abide.
Through this process, we locate ourselves within three interrelated octaves: a place of wellbeing (octave 1), the development and awakening of subtle sense organs (octave 2), and the generation and shaping of new connections—both internal and external (octave 3).
Think of the Internal Human Orchestra Work (IHOW) series as a way of “tuning” our inner instruments — the energies, qualities, and subtle lives — that together form the symphony a human life can become.
Steps
- 1: Clear a mental and physical space to sense the energy field around you
- 2: Choose a posture – standing or seated – whatever allows you to feel most at ease
- 3: Prepare to discover your own way of absorbing and sensing the quality of patience
- 4: Remain open to new discoveries about the essence of patience and where it naturally resides
Patience is not delay. Patience is not merely the opposite of impatience, because what impatience is, is disconnection from trust in what is unfolding. Impatience is the desire and the compulsion to force an outcome, to dominate, to control. Patience is when we relax these needs, when we relax the restlessness or the disquiet of having been frazzled, when we let go of the anxiety and the worry, and we find the generative stillness that allows what is true to emerge in its own time and timing.
