One of the great mysteries of all time is the God–human, human–God relationship. Throughout history, this relationship has revealed several key patterns.
The main story, popularized through many religions, is that God created humanity, and that we are evolving to come closer to the image of God. This is one major archetypal narrative.
An alternative story suggests that humanity created the concept of God, a concept that evolves as we refine our consciousness. Between these two lie other stories and variations.
Our intention here is to include and integrate all these storylines and narratives through the living verification system of knowledge. In our tracing, the epoch now reaching its culmination reveals itself as a profound initiatory program, one in which we humans participate as co-creators, helping to emancipate the Human Project and, in the process, liberate the evolution of life itself.
This writing is inspired by the Portals conversation Universalis #21: Sacred Revolutions — The Unfinished Axial Promise, which followed Universalis #20: Becoming the Future Human. In that conversation, we explored the five pathways of the natural validation of life into knowledge verification, inviting a whole-person discovery and contemplative inquiry.
In “Sacred Revolutions — The Unfinished Axial Promise,” Aviv Shahar, together with Karen Heney, Kyriaki Nikandrou, and a circle of Portals friends, bring to light Nine Contemplative Premises tracing the journey of the human model from a planetary-oriented being, to a sun-natured being, and onward to the universal human now emerging.
The Universalis Project emerged from the intuition that we are entering the culmination of the epoch and the next phase in human evolution. It seeks to cultivate a witnessing awareness of this process and share its discoveries of testimony.
The Universalis Human Emerging
- The Epoch as an Initiatory Learning Process
The current epoch can be seen as a profound initiatory learning process through which humanity develops, participates in the unfolding evolution of life, and furthers the emancipation of the Human Project.
This premise arises from the intuition that an epoch is not random, but a developmental initiation. We are not merely flying on a rock in space; the universe and life itself carry an inherent teleology, and we are participants and co-creators in that purpose.
The mineral, plant, and animal kingdoms, culminating in conscious human life, all represent the universe’s endeavor to know itself more fully.
- The Sevenfold Evolutionary Pattern
This evolutionary journey unfolds through seven distinct “natures,” each resonant with one of the seven rainbow wavelengths, each color carrying its own developmental impulse and evolutionary potential.
This is explored in The Sevenfold Epoch – The Five Stories.
Briefly:
- Story One: History — the unfolding sequence of events.
- Story Two: Her-story — the energetic quality beneath those events.
- Story Three: The Evolution of Knowledge.
- Story Four: The Dialytic Story — our participatory unfolding, whereby through healing the past we liberate the present.
- Story Five: The Emergent Story — the co-creative liberation of the evolutionary promise of humanity itself.
These five stories unfold along the sevenfold pattern, where each color is not merely symbolic but an expression of the deep natural architecture of life.
- The Rainbow as Covenant of Sun and Earth
The rainbow arises when the Sun’s rays meet the living ecology of the Earth. It is a phenomenon of interaction, of dialogue between celestial light and terrestrial life. When we begin to perceive celestial bodies not as inert masses, but as luminous spheres of evolving intelligence, scientific understanding joins hands with intuitive and mystical wisdom. In that unified seeing, the rainbow reveals itself as a sacred covenant between Sun and Earth, a living promise devoted to the sustenance of life.
This third premise invites us to engage both the scientific and the experiential dimensions of the rainbow, to see it through the modern lens of observation, and through the ancient lens of participation.
In the ancient world, people experienced fire, lightning, the elements, and the life of trees in profoundly different ways. They were more porous to the elemental forces of the planet, more attuned to the living field of nature that permeated their being. When they looked at an apple tree, their first thought was not, “Here is a crop we can harvest and sell.” Rather, the apple tree, like the animals, the wind, and the sphere of light itself, represented living presences they could feel and commune with directly.
The stars in the night sky were not regarded as distant physical objects; there was no telescope to reduce them to mere points of light. They were perceived as celestial beings, radiant spheres that influence and fortify life. Our modern objectivist lens replaced these sensibilities with a mechanical view of an inert universe, one that has largely disenchanted us from meaning, significance, and purpose.
Today, however, we are called to redress that imbalance. We can now integrate the vast knowledge derived from scientific observation with a renewed sensitivity to the living, conscious nature of the universe.
When we say that an epoch is an initiatory learning process, we imply that the solar system itself is an initiatory school, and that the Sun is the custodian and teacher of this great evolutionary curriculum. We are being reawakened to the deeper natures of the cosmos, and to our own divine, creative, and connective potentials.
- The Yellow Fractal and the Axial Transition
Within the sevenfold nature, the Yellow fractal embodies the evolutionary impulse toward realignment with a higher principle. This impulse found its great manifestation in the Axial Transition, the epochal period that gave rise to the major world religions and reoriented human consciousness toward transcendent values and universal ethics.
The first four premises above establish the foundation for exploring the deeper significance of the Yellow fractal, its intrinsic nature, its evolutionary function, and its renewed potential in our time.
- The Axial Shift and the Rise of “Homo Solaris”
The axial religions prepared humanity for a pivotal shift: a transition from being primarily Earth-oriented to embracing the potential of becoming Sun-oriented (Homo Solaris). This transformation marked a profound re-orientation of human consciousness from devotion to the elemental powers of Earth-bound traditions toward a solar awareness, recognizing the Sun as the giver of light and life. Spiritually, this Sun-divinity is expressed through the principle of the Christ, the illuminating source.
At times, the exoteric is quietly permeated by the esoteric and, often without knowing it, imparts deeper knowledge. A case in point is the term axial religion, a relatively recent framing introduced by the German philosopher Karl Jaspers in the first half of the twentieth century. Jaspers used it to describe the religious movements that arose during the Axial Age, roughly a 600-year span from about 800 BCE to 200 BCE.
At a more mystical level, the term axial evokes the axis around which life revolves. Esoterically, this points to the deeper reason we use the term: Before the Axial Age, most religions on Earth were Earth-bound, expressed through various pagan and chthonic practices infused with the living powers of the natural world.
The opening that dawned in the Axial Age was an invitation for humanity to lift its gaze, to look beyond the cradle of the planetary realm toward the radiant heart of the Sun, and to recognize that our own higher nature is woven of the same light. The Christ divinity arises here, not as a possession of any one faith; it is a universal seed sown through the Axial turning, carrying within it both prophecy and promise, the awakening of the solar spirit in humankind. The monotheistic turn of that time can be seen as a realignment, a re-centering around the Sun, the living axis of our system and the ever-present teacher of illumination.
At this point, we invite you into an imaginative contemplation — to listen not with the front-brain certainty of what you already know, but with a feeling sense, attuned to the wonder of perceiving the world through these eyes.
Allow yourself to linger in the experience, unhurried, before deciding how you relate to it, or whether it resonates. Let the perspective breathe within a liminal space of not knowing, and there, in that quiet interval, sense what wishes to awaken before you choose how to hold or integrate what it offers.
- The Esoteric Layers of Religion
The “Solaris” turn and its promise are embedded within all axial religions. Each tradition cultivates distinct facets of the human system in preparation for the emergence of Sun-level potential. Buddhism refines and illumines the mind. Judaism purifies the blood and establishes an ethical and moral foundation, shaping character and conduct in readiness for the Sun-like divinity to emerge.
If one chooses to study religion in the traditional way, there are several possible overlays:
Overlay One: through scriptural and canonical study, reading the sacred texts such as the Vedas or the Bible.
Overlay Two: through the biographical and historiological story of the founders and the people who carried the tradition.
Overlay Three: through the theological interpretation — the cosmology of beliefs developed, often generations after the religion’s initial arising.
Overlay Four: through the rituals and ceremonial practices that give form to its devotion.
Overlay Five: through its parables, myths, and folklore — the stories that convey its deeper wisdom.
Overlay Six: through the archetypal and symbolic dimensions — the values, transmissions, and ethos that express the inner essence of the faith.
What we are exploring here is a seventh overlay, which unfolds into two esoteric perspectives:
- First, the recognition that each religion was born from a living essence, a core energetic quality that inspired its arising. All the scriptures, rituals, and mythologies that followed are, in a sense, layers built around that original impulse, much like a cathedral constructed to house a sacred presence. Over time, institutions often preserved the form while forgetting the living source that first animated and catalyzed it.
- Second, the understanding that humanity itself is on an evolutionary journey, and that each religion has contributed to the gradual preparation and refinement of the human system, readying us for what we describe here as the Solaris human.
To speak of the solar human is to suggest that the human being is no longer constrained by earth-bound limitations but is oriented toward the Sun and attuned to a higher orchestration of life. The embodied realization of this Sun-level divinity is expressed through the idea of Christ. Although one religion claims authorship, all the axial traditions foresaw, participated in, and prepared aspects of the human system for this emergence.
The difficulty with the word Christ is that it is often confined to the historical person of Jesus, as though the mystery began and ended there. The invitation is to realize a broader, distributed function, through which the divine Christ principle incarnates, streaming that radiance into humanity and awakening dormant capacities within the human form.
Here we seek to liberate that notion, to free Christ from its denominational boundaries and to embrace it as the ensoulment of the Solaris human — a being aligned with a higher order of life, capable of engaging sun-natured energies, conductivities, and capacities. This is not a new revelation but the culmination of a long evolutionary preparation, the flowering of humanity’s solar potential.
- From Axial to Renaissance: The Reorientation of Light
The spiritual activation of humanity’s solar potential reached a moment of fulfillment with the introduction of a Sun-divinity, the Christ impulse, into human experience. This divine influx set the stage for the great flowering of creativity and inspiration that characterized the Renaissance and, later, the Enlightenment, as humanity gradually embraced a heliocentric, Sun-centered paradigm in both thought and expression.
What inspired humanity, through the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, to move from a geocentric worldview to a heliocentric one? History records that as Galileo developed the telescope, we could finally see that Earth revolved around the Sun, not the other way around.
From an esoteric, “upside-down” perspective, however, this heliocentric revelation was not merely a scientific discovery but a later recapitulation of what had already been seeded in the spiritual realignment of the Axial Transition. The reorientation to the Sun first occurred at a spiritual level and was, during this period, translated through the mental portal into new ways of perceiving, understanding, and expressing the world.
This shift coincided with the Green Epochal impulse of individuation and liberation. In the sevenfold epochal story, the Renaissance represents one of the great activations and release points of the Green catalyst. We can see how the Yellow realignment of the Axial Age unfolds through the Green activation of knowledge and the rise of the universities in the 10th and 11th centuries, culminating in the expansive creativity of the 16th and 17th centuries.
The mystical transformation initiated in the Axial Transition thus found its mirror in the Renaissance: what had once occurred in the inner temple of consciousness became translated into new forms of art, science, and imagination — reimagining the very world we inhabit today.
- Christ as a Sun-Configurational Being
Christ is a spiritual Sun-configurational being, a living presence devoted to the upliftment of humanity. This essence-presence connects human beings to their Sun-natured divinity and potential by activating latent faculties, including the Silver Chalice and Silver Beacon spiritualizing processes. Through this activation, an entire solar system comes alive above the human head, an image reflected in sacred art and iconography across cultures. The Christ phenomenon fulfills the promise embedded within all axial religions.
Let us bring these threads together. In the first premise, we proposed that an epoch is an initiatory development process. In the later premises, we seeded the realization that the great religions have each contributed to the construction and activation of latent human faculties, preparing us to evolve from a planetary orientation toward a solar one.
Seen in this way, the promissory grace of Christ can be understood as an energetic formation originating in the subtle spiritual sphere of the Sun. Upon entering the human realm, this formation awakens dormant sense organs and higher capacities, giving rise to the living experience of the sun-like human within each of us.
How might we begin to sense the actuality of these permissions? The human capacity for renewal, for continual inspiration, is itself Sun-like in nature. Each morning, we awaken into light and life, touched again by the invigorating power of the Sun. This daily resurrection grants permission anew: to restore purpose, rekindle vitality, and open to transformation toward ever-emerging elevations of being.
Spiritually translated, this principle reveals that we can join directly with Source and become a point through which Source expresses itself. This is the essence of becoming an agentic and self-arising human, as described in various Portals conversations, including the Portals Into the Soul and Universalis Human series. It is an invitation to take full responsibility for one’s life, embracing the Solaris premise: “Life empowers me to take charge, not merely to be subject to events, but to co-create possibilities. Even when faced with difficulty, I can participate in shaping outcomes.”
It is the Sun-nature principle as a way of life, granting us connective faculties that enable inspiration, knowledge creation, alchemical healing and renewal, both for ourselves and for others.
These are expressions of the Solaris human. We are not describing something entirely new; humanity has been living into this actuality for centuries, often without recognizing its deeper significance. The same creative and connective capacities that emerge with a Solaris divinity were redirected into the material domain through the Industrial Revolution, translating Solaris pathways into the realms of commerce, technology, and production.
This redirection has fueled tremendous material progress yet also deepened humanity’s immersion in materialism. Over the past four centuries, the pursuit of material mastery, powered by the exploitation of Earth’s stored energies, has drawn civilization ever deeper into the density of form.
Now, we stand at the threshold of a new evolutionary phase, one in which humanity begins to reclaim its soul and spirit properties. A nascent renaissance is arising, calling us to reorient our solar inheritance toward service, creativity, and regeneration.
It is this very impulse, the reawakening of the Solaris human, that inspires the Universalis project.
- Toward the Universalis Human
The monotheistic focus of the Axial Era marked a pivotal evolutionary phase, calling humanity to devotionally align with a single source that served as an axis point for the emerging Solaris — the Sun-like human.
Today, we stand at the threshold of the Universalis Human, an epoch characterized by the principle of “the many in one.” In this new phase, multiple inner capacities and lives awaken and integrate, unlocking the universal potential of being human.
The journey of the next thousand years is the transition from the Sun-human to the universal human. This transformation begins with the full embrace of the Solaris potential and continues through the liberation of its energy from commercial, industrial, and financialized expressions, releasing it into its higher creative and integrative possibilities. Much of what we witness today in technological innovation and at the leading edge of culture reflects the ongoing externalization of this same potential.
The more-than-human, luminescent, and diaphanous realms, including the invisible spiritual dimensions within us, are now urging humanity to journey beyond planetary orientation, through solar awareness, toward a galactic and ultimately universal expression.
This is the story we felt compelled to share, carried by the intuition and the deep hope that, through the steady efforts of humans expanding the boundaries of perception and the known, a new day may gradually dawn, when the unseen gathering of essences, presences, and latent capacities will help facilitate an octave leap already sensed within the human heart.
When a human life rises intentionally toward discovery, the universe gathers in resonance to support that emergence. The collective pursuit of goodness, truth, and beauty, through our conversations and shared inquiry, gathers a universal plasma of possibility around human life, helping to ready and ease the next evolutionary leap.

As with all Portals writings, this is an evolving draft, a momentary crystallization of the best understanding available now, to be further refined and deepened through a living, co-creative process.
