Portals Practices are a wide array of activities and processes that can enhance well-being, inner balance and harmony. Practices help us integrate our inner lives and awareness and connect to our natural creative potential. We’re also tuning our lives to the greater intelligence, strength and support that is always available to us.
This is the sixth in a new Portals series of practices designed to bring healing, balance and relief to the busy, noisy and sometimes stressful lives that many of us may feel at one time or another. Think of the series Internal Human Orchestra Work (IHOW), as “tuning” our inner instruments — the energies, qualities and finer lives — that together produce the symphony a human life can be.
This practice will help us get in touch with our soul — to feel and express the soul’s three main functions or urges in our life: to be the guardian of life, the spirit of learning, and the champion of our higher purpose.
In simple movements, the practice guides us to sense how we register each soul function, and then express the feelings in motions or drawing. We can use this practice often in our journey of self-discovery.
Steps
- 1: When you are ready, preferably stand in a place that you feel at ease in
- 2: Make sure you are safe to move forward and backward in a space free from obstacles
- 3: Have available paper, colored pens or crayons for simple drawing
- 4: Follow the guidance of the recording, encouraging you to breathe in and find movements expressing the inner process that is taking place
This practice is developed to have an intimate experience with the various functions of the soul, in a territory that is chosen here, and that can be varied in many ways in your own time, at your choice.
