In this conversation we’re exploring ways to unlock the potential, and the healing, in what we call the practice of ‘searing moments’ – rethinking and updating the significance of profoundly meaningful moments, positive or painful, that may still influence our behavior and how we engage with life.
A metaphor that may help is to imagine developing a photograph taken with a film camera. The darkroom is our own inner contemplative chamber of discovery. We’re not using physical chemicals, but the alchemy of the spirit and soul, to develop and reveal the content of the searing moment, which may be a latent potential never before seen.
In other words, we have been given the permission to rethink and rewrite something that happened to us, and unlock a new significance and meaning.
I now know there is a capacity in me to transfer to others the courage and the bravery to overcome frightening messages and scary moments; to melt, to thaw these experiences because what happens is scary moments tend to freeze us in time. The idea of a searing moment is to release that potential, and once you release the potential, you actually unpack and unlock a tremendous healing permission in your own process, in your own experience.
