At Portals of Perception we enjoy exploring what is emerging on the frontiers of human awareness and experience to discover new pathways into expanding consciousness and a brighter future. In this conversation we take a deeper look at the experience of ‘searing moments’ – the profoundly meaningful moments, positive or perhaps traumatic and painful, that may still be influencing our behavior and attitudes and how we engage with life.
Even with searing moments from early in life, we can decide and choose how we think about and write the experience into ourselves. We call it the practice of searing moments: continually unfolding their meaning to a point where we rewrite and update their significance. It’s the idea that we can, in our meditative and contemplative practices, access the experience and its energetic
content, and actually change and update its script in ourselves; it’s not something that happened in the past.
The practice of searing moments also has a profound philosophical and theological dimension central to the journey of each human endeavoring to become a self-chosen and self-authored life. What is emerging is that humans are now in the early stages of graduating to a new phase of evolution, where we are summoned or activated into Homo universalis to begin releasing the universal potential of human life and all that it means.
I imagine those who are listening may also be reflecting on key instances of a transformative nature, be they painful or inspirational. What I'm drawn to then is the updating or rewriting; it's like the reinterpretation that becomes available with perspective, and hindsight, and additional life experience in service to unfolding the universal potential of human life… So it does seem like we're on the cusp of something there and I'd love to have an additional tool in the toolkit for the work of Homo universalis.
