Music Muse Contemplation

We all probably can remember a time when we were moved by music — hearing a melody, a song, a symphony, a simple rhythm, even the wind moving through the trees, and feeling changed. Emotionally, physically, spiritually. Music can inspire intense passion, deep longing, or just the urge to get up and dance; ecstasy, and sadness; a profound sense of connection to the divine, or each other, or the spirit in nature.

Why is music so powerful? What in us is being stirred? What is doing the stirring? It’s not just humans: animals can respond to the vibration, frequency and energy of music; researchers tell us that plants can be changed by sound vibrations, too.

What a wonderful mystery. Music is everywhere, all of our lives. What do we feel, sense or think we know about music’s true

nature and origins? Portals friend and accomplished musician Edward Dowrick has been musing about music much of his life and brings together music, the spoken word and visual images in this contemplation. Relax, listen, watch, and maybe feel the Muse of music stirring within.

Music Muse Contemplation is a spontaneously spoken and played musing, recorded live in pursuit of the music enigma by Edward Dowrick. Video production and copyright by PortalsofPerception.org, 2022.

This contemplation is part of the continuing Portals discovery into what is emerging on the frontiers of human experience in this time of profound change. Information about upcoming special events can be found on the Events page. Also visit and subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Music…The movement of force and energy as a cloak of force. What is moving? Can it be witnessed, felt, known, integrated with? Is it a pathway into the continuity of the flow of life itself in process?
