As we continue our deeper look at the core and meaning behind what is referred to as chivalry, we include lines of inquiry about what is natural, or what is right, or how we as human beings discover what is naturally arising, such as mutual respect between the genders.
How do we proceed with this conversation in a very polarized postmodern world where everything has become subjective, and everybody can reason for themselves what is true or not true?
Is there no longer a sense of what was once viewed as a unified set of standards, or higher truths, now largely thrown out – the baby thrown out with the bathwater – in the revolution that started the ‘60s of the 20th century?
We can come together if we make the center of our lives simple things like care, respect, patience, dignity. So it seems to me the first place of chivalry is simply to make choices about what you base your life on. Simply by making choices life moves from ‘anything goes,’ and what looks like our modern world, to, well, I'll use the word purpose
