Portals of Perception – Why?
Portals of Perception – Why?

the unfinished self

We are launching Portals of Perception because these are times of change we are all experiencing now, an evolutionary change, one that is quickly shape-shifting the world.

And so Portals of Perception is a response to this process. Our aim, our effort, is to contribute to the story of human development, and, specifically, human development into the future that's emerging through this process.

And we're looking to do so by creating conversations at the frontier of our individual and collective experiences, which is where we believe evolution takes place, the edge of our experiences, the edge of coming to know and understand and appreciate what we are experiencing, and how we're evolving as humans.

And so, you say: Why Portals of Perception? Because the idea here is that we believe that each person represents a portal of possibility individually, and as part of something greater. We are now, the two of us, in a dialogue, we are each a portal of possibility. Together we form an even larger portal.

And what it therefore says is that each human, each one of us humans, by design, we can become an active portal, implying that most of the time we are dormant as true portals for new possibility. But what we mean by that is that we can actually become a portal, or a gate, or an entry point of new knowledge, and insight.

And that is how we participate, how we contribute to the evolutionary process as it arises, through our intentions, our connections, through increasing intelligence and expression.

And so what is it we intend to do here? We intend to bring these ideas to life, through conversation, through dialogue with experts, with people on the frontiers of the human journey, and the human development journey. And we will focus on inquiries and practices that emerge through those experiences.

Ultimately, our aim is to discover, decode, and inspire, as we explore beyond the already fashioned, beyond the already known, and through those conversations become intentional participants in the creating, and the enabling, of a hopefully wiser, better, more livable future.

So we therefore are exploring this idea that one of the core precepts of development is that to be useful for anything that wants to transcend polarities, and that aspires to rise above the neverending game of hide and seek, of dark and light, if you want to escape the bull and bear market dynamics of popularity, and the vacillation of censure and praise, to not fall under that precept, that persuasion, you need to get to a point where you're able to resist that compelling grip, compelling persuasion. And we are suggesting that perception is that threshold.

I have been a perennial student at the University of Living. As long as I can remember, I’ve been in awe and fascinated by the nature of things, their relationship to other things, and to their causes. I’ve wondered about – and still do, as it is a work in progress – and am in the pursuit of, the discovery of the part I play in this Great Mystery.
